Gym Owner and Professional Fitness Instructor
As a gym owner and professional instructor, I know what it takes to get seriously fit. I know what a good exercise programs are, I know how to get rid of that annoying abdominal fat, and in general
I know what it takes to get to your peak physical fitness. Most times achieving your fitness goals is simply about going back to the basics. Today I'm going
to talk about some high intensity interval training workouts that can teach you how to do just that.
As a gym owner, who also works as a personal trainer, I sometimes laugh at the ideas people bring with them to improve their bodies. Every week I hear someone talking about the latest DVD program or eBook that they've been using to improve their game, and then I see them a few weeks later doing the same routines they've always done.
The problem isn't that fitness program packages don't work. There are some good ones out there. The real problem is that many of them are poor, and finding the good ones can be
difficult. There are many that promise incredible results with little effort on your part. The variance in quality with these products really does surprise me. With
that, let's first talk about what a great fit interval training workout is and what it is not.
First, simply buying the latest digital package to learn how to improve your physique is NOT the answer to your poor results. You still need to practice what
program teaches and work to improve your body.
Second, NOT everyone needs a fitness training package. Most of the learning tools on the market are targeted at beginner to amateur
fitness enthusiasts.
Third, a fitness program can be an excellent way to get a start in improving your muscle strength. There are tools to teach you better routines, to eat better, and to
improve your overall results. With the right exercise program you will end up with a better body and better endurance.
Fourth,if you don't take the time to choose the right package you're more likely to ruin your workouts than better them. Some of the learning packages that are
touted to be the best way to gain a better body actually work to make your muscles weaker.
Imagine developing a bad back or tearing a muscle, all because you chose to learn from someone who didn't know what they were talking about!
To help my own customers (and you), I took the time to evaluate the top interval training routines on the market today. To
evaluate each product I worked with some athletes who needed help with their workouts. We based the evaluations on the following criteria.
Higher Maximums - Obviously the main criteria for our evaluations was how well a routine could improve maximum weight and endurance capabilities.
Focus of the Learning Package- The best routines focus on something specific that can help you improve your results. Higher ratings were given to those that gave more information on one area and then built on that information in other
areas.
Ease of Learning - Was the material presented in a way that made it simple to learn and follow?
Value- Was the package worth the money we spent? This one was rated by the amount of content, and by how well the content actually taught what it was supposed to.
Overall Rating - Based on everything else we gave each interval routine an overall rating.
Each athlete was given a routine and then sent off to workout with it. To ensure fair testing we actually
had each package tested by three people. We then evaluated their progress once a week over the course of two months.
Below you will find the results from our evaluations for the top four interval training routines available today. My recommendations are clearly given, but please don't hesitate to email me (george at intervaltrainingroutines.com) should you need help choosing the learning tool that is right for you.
After you do get the package you select, be sure to contact me (email above) and let me know how things are going. I do enjoy hearing from fellow fitness enthusiasts, and especially those who are working hard to improve their results.
The clear winner from all of our evaluations was a product called Turbulence Training. This one is mainly an eBook package, but it does come with some videos that add to what is taught.
As the title suggests, Turbulence Training focuses on maximizing your results by shaking up everything. It walks you step-by-step through each exercise, and the program is very addictive. The package also comes with some bonus books that added a lot of value to the package.
On the sales page they advertise that you will lose fat and gain muscle without long, boring cardio workouts. With our evaluations, all of our testers did experience that success and actually beat our expectations by a long shot.
With the eBook you will improve your body. To add to that though, the package also comes with several other well focused books that focus on your abs, your nutrition, and fat loss, and it even includes some apprentice sheets to track your improvement.
Put simply, this interval training routine worked better to improve the results of all of those who used it, and it provided more value for the money than any other package on the list. Want a workout with no weight? Try Turbulence Training Bodyweight Workout.
From that, we are giving Turbulence Training the award for being the
best:
Update:
I've just learned that Turbulence Training is being offered with some
additional bonuses with a trial period. I've been told that this offer won't
last long, and that soon the trial option will be taken down. If you've been looking to improve your workouts, now is the time!
In Summary: Everyone
who used Turbulence Training cut their body fat and increased their sprint times dramatically. This
one package included more content, had better focus, and simply worked
better than any of the others we tested. We are recommending this one
to everyone who needs to improve their workout results.
In second place we have a program called INSANITY, from the folks at Beachbody. You may have seen the commercials for this one on TV, as well as P90X from the same company. INSANITY performed almost as well as our award winner, but it is quite a bit more expensive, and it didn't provide as much value for the money.
Much like our top pick, INSANITY puts a whole new twist on what you think you know already about high intensity interval training and takes it to a new level. In this program, rather than short high intensity periods amongst longer, slower recovery periods, it does just the reverse. The routines are definitely tough, but the teaching is actually done quite well. The program only focuses on exercise, and not nutrition, and the included worksheets help you track your progress as you improve.
On the value side of things, INSANITY doesn't include as many add-ons as our winner did. Having said that, the program itself does add enough value to put it in a solid second place.
All in all I would recommend this one. The people who used it in our evaluations did improve their body fat levels and sprint times. However, I would make this one my second choice and get Turbulence Training first.
The third program we tested was a package called Visual Impact Muscle Building. This training routine performed really well, and I really like the focus on healthy, functional body building. Too many programs try to make you into an Arnold Scwharzeneger, but trust me, you don't want to live that way.
This package isn't a conventional interval training routine, and much of what it talks about is common sense. But its focus on lean, healthy muscle building is definitely worth a look, even if you just watch the videos on its sales page. The material is presented well, but in the end, we just didn't feel like it brought enough new information to the table to rank it higher than third.
Taking
fourth place is a product called Static Contraction by Precision Training. As the title suggests, it has a bit of a different approach than the other interval training routines that we've review already, but its results deserve a mention here. The book itself isn't bad, and with the evaluators who learned with it they did improve their performances. Where this one falls short is with value.
At $37, the package simply doesn't provide enough value for your money. It comes with a spreadsheet and an audio seminar, but there are no bonus books like our other top picks had.
Having said that, for those who want a new approach to working out, with a twist on interval training, this one may be worth your time. For most others, you will likely be better off with our top two products which would work to dramatically improve your results with intense training and motivation.
Ok, this one isn't really an interval training routine, but the information in this package is important enough that I wanted to give it a mention. I have recommended this program to many people at my gym who seem to be stuck in old ways of thinking about abdominal workouts.
There are many exercises people do that they think are targeting their ab muscles, but it turns out they are actually impeding their progress. There are also foods you might be eating, thinking they're healthy and helping, that may be slowing down your results as well. This program will straighten out your ideas on what it takes to get the six pack you want.
Granted, if you follow the training from the other programs we've already talked about, you're going to lose the fat that's currently covering you're abs, so this program is not necessary if you're going to do one of the others. But if you find yourself with additional questions about what is going on with your tummy muscles, this package is worth a look.
